On the Internet, through the Electronic Office of the Cadastre

Sede electrónica del catastro
Electronic Office of the Cadastre

The fastest way to know the cadastral reference of your home or property is by accessing the Electronic Office of the Cadastre. In it, the General Directorate of Cadastre gathers information related to all buildings in Spain.

Once you are on this page, go to “Property Finder and Cartographic Viewer”. After a new window opens, enter the data corresponding to the province and municipality where your home is located. Then, in the section called “street/number” choose the type of street and the name of the street where the reference of the house you want to consult is located. Fill in the spaces reserved for the block, stairs, floor, and door of your house. If you don’t know the kilometer where it is located, you don’t need to enter it. Click on “Datos” and you will receive all the information related to the property you have selected, including your cadastral reference.

There are other options to consult your cadastral reference, such as entering your house’s exact coordinates and if you want to know the cadastral reference of a rustic property, select the corresponding option and fill in the data of the polygon and the plot where it is located.

A faster way: To use the DNI or Digital Certificate

If you have a Digital Certificate or DNI, you can consult even more data. However, they are not mandatory to search for the cadastral reference of your property.

On the other hand, if you have them, you will be able to initiate procedures, make declarations or appeals, consult the status of a file or of its application, and even download the cartography and alphanumeric cadastral information at a municipal level.

By Telephone

If you prefer to check the information by phone, you can call the Cadastre Hotline by dialing 902 37 36 35.

Citizen service hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Canary Islands) from Monday to Friday. If you call outside of these hours you can leave a message with the information you need and your phone number. A manager will call you the next day from 2:00 p.m.

You will only need the address of the property. It does not matter if it is yours or rented. They will only ask you for the identification details of the owner of the house if the location is difficult to pinpoint.

If the query is particularly complex and cannot be answered immediately by phone, it will be answered within a maximum period of 24 hours.

Face-to-Face Appointment

You can consult the cadastral reference of your home or property in any of the Cadastre Management Offices. In this case, you will need to go to the territorial office of your Autonomous Community. You can find out the exact address you should go to by selecting your region on the cadastre page.

Take into account what are the opening hours to the public. In most cases, you will only be attended from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There are autonomous communities, such as Madrid, where you can go in the afternoon until 5:30 p.m.

Cadastral Information Points

The cadastral information points are offices authorized by the General Directorate of the Cadastre. In them, you can request the cadastral reference of your home or property and carry out other related procedures. You can locate these offices through the Internet by selecting the province where the building you want to consult is located.

Local Entities

The General Directorate of Cadastre has signed agreements with some local entities. In this way, the citizen can consult the data referring to the cadastre directly in the Town Hall of the town or in the Provincial Council. In this document, you can see if the municipality or city where you live has this service.
