Requirements and Documentation
- To NOT be a citizen of the European Union.
- To NOT have a criminal record.
- Application Form Modelo EX00, filled out and signed.
- Valid passport or travel document.
- Supporting documentation of having the necessary economic means (100% of the IPREM per month). Ex: bank statements.
- Letter of acceptance issued by the academic institution authorized in Spain.
- To have medical insurance, with no co-payments or waiting periods.
- Proof of payment of the fee (the amount varies).
- Parental authorization (in the case of unaccompanied minors).
What happens if I need to extend my stay?
To extend your legal stay in Spain and continue with your studies you can apply for an extension of the authorization of stay for studies. This extension is also applicable to the family members accompanying you.
In addition to the requirements and documentation mentioned above, you must also present:
- Documentation accrediting continuity in the activity that gave rise to the initial authorization, either by passing the corresponding academic tests or by continuing the training or internship activity.
The application must be submitted within 60 calendar days prior to the expiration date of the current authorization. It is also possible to submit it within 90 calendar days after the expiration date.
You can do this at any Immigration Office in the province where you are studying.
Please note that the maximum term to resolve and notify the resolution is 3 months. Once this period has elapsed without notification, it will be understood that the application has been rejected due to administrative silence.
Last step:
Once the extension is granted, you must personally apply for the TIE at the Immigration Office or Police Station in the province where you processed the authorization, within the month following the notification.
