Here we will explain to you the step-by-step procedure of how to submit the 2019 Income Tax Return or its draft online using the Cl@ve System:

What is the procedure to submit your Income Tax Return?

The following information was taken directly from the Tax Agency.

From April 1, 2020,  you can submit the draft/tax return from the Tax Agency website, identifying yourself with the Reference obtained through the RENØ service. Access the portal “Renta WEB 2020” and click on the link “Draft/tax return processing service (Renta WEB)”.

After you click on it, a new section will be shown, fill in your DNI or NIE and then the contrast data. If it is a DNI, enter its validity date, if the DNI is permanent (when the validity date is 01/01/9999), you must enter the issue date. For a NIE it will be necessary to indicate the support number. In the links at the bottom of the article you can see how to enter this data.

The application will offer you different options to identify yourself with Reference depending on whether you are registered in Cl@ve PIN and your situation. Select: “Obtain reference with box 505” to obtain it at that moment, “Access identifying yourself with Reference” (if you already have a reference obtained with the RENØ service), or “Obtener Referencia”, etc.

Next, enter the reference obtained for the 2020 fiscal year, which will be made up of 6 characters. This reference is not unique and you can request it up to 10 times a day. The last reference obtained will automatically revoke the previously generated one. There is no request limit until the following campaign.

If you still do not have the reference number, click on “I do not have a reference” to obtain it. Once in your file, access the option “Draft/tax return (Renta WEB)” in the “Available services” section.

If you have already accessed Renta WEB at some other time, a pop-up window will inform you of the existence of a previous income tax return, which you can recover from the “Continue session” option or start a new one, incorporating the tax data again from the ” New Tax Return”. You can also choose the language in which you want to make the declaration. If you press “Continue session” you will directly access the “Summary of declarations”. From this window, you can continue with the incorporation of data in the tax return if it is pertinent and if you agree with the result you can click on “Submit declaration” in the modality that you want (Declarant, spouse, or joint). summary statementsIf you click on “New Declaration” you will load the window with the “Identifying data” of the taxpayer and the rest of the taxpayers, if they are part of a family unit. If you want the program to only calculate the taxpayer’s individual return, check the box  “If you want the program to only calculate the taxpayer’s individual return, click here” located at the top above the taxpayer’s data.identification data

If you have not checked the box to calculate the individual return and you are part of a family unit, you will need to process the authorization of the data of the spouse and of the children who have obtained income, through Reference or Cl@ve PIN . In this way, you will be able to check which is the most favorable tax option and make the corresponding calculations for each modality (joint or individual). In this case, press the “Reference/ Cl@ve PIN”  and in a pop-up window you will be able to include the reference or the identification with Cl@ve PIN” button, indicating the access key code and the Access code PIN. If the data is correct, click “Confirm” to continue with the process. Depending on the tax data, it is sometimes necessary to transfer additional data to the tax return. Select the “Yes” box in the “Incorporate” column to transfer them to the return. After completing the data by answering the questions that appear and providing the necessary additional data, you will be able to reach the results table and from there continue making changes or submitting the tax return.Movable Data Image

If you do not need to include additional information to generate the declaration, you will directly access the return summary from where you can both check the result of the return for each modality and complete the tax return if necessary. At the top there is a menu from which you can view the tax data imputed for each taxpayer and download a PDF with a preview of each taxpayer’s or joint tax return, which is not suitable for filing but can serve as a query. Take into account that in order to view the documents in PDF format it is necessary to have a PDF file viewer installed on your computer, for example, Adobe Acrobat Reader (we recommend having at least version 9.0).

summary statementsBy clicking on the “Continue with the declaration” button at the top, you will be able to access the different pages of the declaration to check all the data and continue completing the declaration. "Continue with the return" button from the return summaryBefore filing the tax return, check if there are any errors in filling in by clicking on the “Validate” button. The warnings do not prevent you from filing the return and are only for you to verify the completion. If the message is an error, you must correct it for the return to be considered valid at the time of filing. To review the warnings or errors, press the “Go to Warning” or “Go to Error” button. notices and errorsOnce verified that it does not contain any errors, press “Submit declaration”. Take into account what mode you are in at the time of filing the return, and select the type of return you wish to file. If the declaration comes out with a positive result, check the IBAN code of the account in which you want the refund to be made. By default, the IBAN account that you indicated in the previous exercise will appear; however, you can modify it on this screen. You can also select, for the refund, an IBAN account opened abroad (EU/SEPA).

At the time of filing the returns to be paid, you can choose to split the amount: 60% at the time of filing the return and the remaining 40%, in this case up to 5 November 2020, inclusive. In no case can complementary declarations be divided. Likewise, you can choose to use direct debit as a means of payment: direct debit of both installments, direct debit the payment of the first installment and not direct debit the corresponding to the second installment, or direct debit only the payment corresponding to the second installment. In relation with the payment options of the previously filed return, certain modifications are allowed:

Cancel the two direct debits and enter a single term.

Cancel the direct debit of the second payment of the declaration.

Until June 25, 2020, there is the possibility of splitting the payment (60% / 40%), provided that the declared debt is domiciled.

Until September 22, 2020, the second installment (40%) may be domiciled; this option will be possible as long as the first payment is direct debit. These last two modifications can be made through the option “Consult and/or modify your direct debit account” found within Income 2019 in the “MORE PROCEDURES” section. If you have accessed with a reference number and marked “Not installment” you can select different forms of payment:

Direct debit of the amount to be deposited. It will be necessary to indicate the IBAN Code of the bank account. The direct debit period will be available until June 25. You will only have to indicate the IBAN code of the bank account in which you want the payment to be made, which will coincide with the last day of the submission, in this case, June 30.

To enter:

“Account debited with NRC.” You must make the total deposit by contacting your Bank in advance, to obtain the NRC proof of payment and enter it in the “NRC Reference Number” box.

“Document to enter Bank/Cash”. It allows you to obtain the income document to pay it at the Bank or Cashier. Through this option, the declaration will be submitted electronically but pending payment.

Other payment methods. For example, acknowledgment of debt with the inability to pay or request for deferment, among others. After selecting the payment method,  click “Accept” to file the tax returnImage result of the declaration to enter and payment optionsRemember that in joint tax returns it will be necessary to indicate the reference or PIN code obtained for the spouse, to file the return regardless of the taxpayer’s type of access. The reference number is individual for each taxpayer. If there are notices, you will be informed of this before continuing to sign and send the statement. Click “Continue” if you wish to proceed.

Window image reporting warnings and option to continueIn the new window, check the “Accept” box and press “Sign and Send” to conclude the presentation of the tax return. The “Declaration information” button will show the data of the same. According,When your return has been filed, you will see the message “Your filing has been completed successfully” and your Secure Verification Code assigned. In addition, a PDF will be shown that contains a page with the information of the submission (registration entry number, Secure Verification Code, receipt number, date and time of presentation, and data of the taxpayer) and, on subsequent pages, the submitted draft.

successfully filedYou can print or save this page as a receipt with the information from the online submission. To print the page, right-click the mouse and choose “Print” from the menu or click the printer icon on the top edge. In cases where there is an acknowledgment of debt, on the response sheet successful submission, a link will be displayed to submit the postponement or compensation request. Press “Process debt”. Next, the detail of the settlement will appear with the data of the debtor and the settlement key. You must choose between one of the available options: defer, compensate or pay.

process debtIf you access “Renta WEB. Draft/tax return processing service (Renta WEB)”, you will check that the “Recording of your tax return” appears in the “History of the File” section with the date on which it was made. Also, check that the message “Your return is being processed” appears at the top.
