The RENØ service allows obtaining the tax reference number of the Renta file immediately. With it, you can manage and speed up all the Renta services, generate your draft, or prepare your tax return through the RentaWEB service and submit it through the Internet, regardless of its result.

What is the procedure to get the Tax Reference Number?

From the Renta website, in the “Highlights” section, click on the link “Get your reference number”. You can also obtain a valid reference if, when you access any Tax Agency E-Office service that allows identification by reference, you choose that mode of access.

Next, we show you how to obtain the tax reference number with box 505 of Renta 2019. The references obtained with the amount of box 475 of the year 2019 are no longer valid.

We remind you that this reference is displayed directly on the screen or in their official App.

Next, indicate your DNI or NIE:

Automatically, the following information to be filled out is loaded: the validity date of the DNI in the indicated format: day, month and year separated by hyphens (dd-mm-yyyy); if you do not enter a separation, the application will add the hyphens automatically. 

You can also use the calendar to select the date. If the DNI  is permanent (01/01/9999), the date that will be requested is the date of issuance of your document. You can display the help link “How to get the date of…?” in which it is explained how to locate this information in your DNI.

In the event that you input your NIE information, the data that will be requested will be the support number that appears on this document. You can display the help link “How to obtain the support number of…”, which explains how to locate this information on your Foreigner Identity Card (TIE), Residence Permit, or EU Registration Certificate and how to write it correctly on the form. For more information about the support number, you can also go to the help section ‘Enter a valid support’ (How to enter the support number).

If it is a NIF without a validity date (type K, L, M), the information that you will have to provide will be the date of birth that appears on your document.

By clicking “Continue” the application will offer you different alternatives depending on the written DNI or NIE, recognizing whether or not you are registered in Cl@ve so that you can use this alternative identification system. In this case, click on “Obtain Reference with box 505” or “Obtain reference”. In the event that it is disabled to obtain the reference through a box, these options will not appear.

After this step, the system detects whether or not the Tax Return was presented in prior years

If you filed an Income Tax return for the 2019 financial year, either in an individual or joint return, the field is enabled to provide the information in box 505 of your 2019 Tax Return. Remember that it corresponds to the “General Tax Basis subject to Tax” (Base liquidable general sometida a gravamen) and not to any other amount or to the result of the tax return. Check this box in your copy of last year’s tax return or its draft, in the “Income or Refund document”. To enter the amount correctly, do not enter any sign in the whole number and separate the decimals by a comma.

If you were not a 2019 taxpayer, the last five positions of the IBAN of a bank account of which you were the holder in 2020 will be requested. This information will also be requested if the amount of box 505 of the 2019 Renta is 0.00.

Once all the requested data has been entered, click on “Get reference”.

The 6-character reference to manage the Renta services will be displayed. Write down or copy this reference for later use. However, it is allowed to obtain up to 10 Income references per day and each of the references received will be different and will automatically revoke the one previously generated.

If you have obtained a reference from their official App when you obtain a new one through the browser, you will revoke the previous one, so you will have to identify yourself again on the mobile device. Remember that only the last reference generated will be valid, either through this App or from their page.

Once you have obtained the tax reference number, you can manage any of the Renta services available or those that allow this method of identification, such as the request for IRPF tax certification. From the Renta website, access “Draft/tax return processing service (Renta WEB)” to generate your tax return document, complete it if necessary, and file it. We inform you that for the calculation and presentation of joint returns, the reference of the spouse’s file or their Cl@ve PIN will be essential.

You will then access your 2019 Renta file, where in the “All procedures” section you will be able to check the procedures enabled at that time for you. Click on “Draft/Return (Renta WEB)” to generate your draft with the tax data of those available to the AEAT at that time, although you can add any other data that is not registered.
