Who Can Apply for the Digital Nomad Visa?

Employees authorized by their company to work remotely from Spain and self-employed workers who offer services to clients worldwide, may benefit. However, income earned in Spain or from Spanish companies cannot exceed 20% of their total income.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must provide a certificate proving they have no criminal history in their home country or any other country where they have lived in the last five years.
  • Not be prohibited from entering Spain. 
  • Have sufficient economic resources for the applicant and the family, the value is based on the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI).
  • Have private health insurance, without copays or waiting periods or register for social security in Spain once the permit has been granted.
  • Have had a professional relationship of at least 3 months with clients or company.
  • Whether you’re a freelancer or employee, your primary source of income must come from businesses or clients located outside of Spain.
  • Applicants must provide a certificate proving they have no criminal history in their home country or any other country where they have lived in the last five years.
  • Accredit the applicant’s professional competence.
  • The company or customer must have been operating for at least 1 year prior to application.
  • Have a contract of at least 1 year with the company.

General Documents for the Visa Application

In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria, you’ll need to prepare a thorough application. Here’s what you’ll need to gather:

  • Application form.
  • Passport.
  • Criminal Background Certificate.
  • CV.
  • University Degree or 3 years of professional experience.
  • Health insurance or registration in Spanish social security.
  • Commercials contracts with  foreign companies
  • Proof of business activity of at least 3 months
  • Certificate of good standing or incorporation with the company which you have the commercial contract.
  • Letter from the company.
  • Proof of Payment Fee 790 038.
