The technology company Fibratel pointed out some of the trends that could boost your tourism business growth. This takes into account the celebration of the Fitur fair, one of the most important celebrations for the Spanish tourism industry.

The digital media is a process that has already invaded all sectors. Thanks to the most difficult months worldwide caused by the pandemic, the tourism sector, which at the time was the hardest hit by this global health problem, saw the need to adapt its services for a more digital audience and be able to counteract the effects caused by the 2019- 2021 season.

On the other hand, the director of Fibratel’s communications business unit stated: «The future of the Spanish tourism industry lies in adapting its services to an audience that is increasingly demanding of digitalization. This means not only adopting the most disruptive technologies on the market but also improving the most basic ones, such as connectivity, to guarantee an optimal service without interruptions during its use.

Three technologies that could mark the Spanish tourism industry in 2023, according to Fibratel

These are some of the technologies that will mark the sector during 2023 according to what the company Fibratel highlights:

Connectivity

With the benefit of teleworking, it is more common for demands for a good internet connection in tourist accommodation to increase. Most hotels and holiday apartments – around 99% – have Wi-Fi in their facilities. However, in many cases, it is not efficient. In contrast to this, 70% of travelers are looking for technologically evolved hotels and tourist apartments, as well as a stable and risk-free Wi-Fi connection. It is this reason that makes it essential to improve connections in all businesses in the Spanish tourism industry.

Thus, Fibratel proposes creating an adequate Wi-Fi infrastructure that provides coverage to all areas, ensures Wi-Fi availability, and, in addition, protects that connection. Likewise, the ideal thing to guarantee its optimal operation is to monitor the status of the network in real-time. The goal is to find potential performance failures and fix them as soon as possible to ensure service continuity.

Big data

Big data applied to the Spanish tourism industry and especially the hotel sector is closely related to improving the customer experience. The collection of information and its subsequent analysis can benefit the decision-making of the tourist establishment. Thus, it is possible thanks to tools like Wizzie to create customer profiles and adapt the offer to them, offering certain services depending on their preferences.

Likewise, times of greatest demand can be anticipated to adapt the services or for marketing and advertising purposes, increasing investment in this aspect to generate a greater impact. It should be noted that the benefit is not only for clients but will also be useful for the company itself. In that sense, thanks to the use of big data it is possible, among other things, to optimize supplies and better control the purchase of products, avoiding unnecessary expenses.

Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the technologies that is emerging the most in recent years. In fact, according to IoT Analytics data, its growth is so notable that by 2025 the global number of IoT devices will increase by 9%, reaching 27 billion connections. This technology is related to big data and together they manage to offer excellent services to users.

Thus, through sensors inside different objects – such as vehicles, doors, and even trash cans – it is possible to collect information about their status to analyze and improve tourist services. For example, some sensors can measure occupancy in a restaurant or even activate or deactivate certain lights in a hotel room based on the movement of guests.
