Summary

This report aims to analyze the cost of bureaucracy in Spain, focusing on the average cost of different notarial services, as well as the cost of time invested in completing these procedures. The methodology is based on a unitary analysis of each notarial procedure, evaluating its viability of digitization or elimination in comparison with other countries to estimate the potential reductions of notarial costs in the Spanish market. In this study we established that 134 out of 351 notarial procedures and 5,312,641 individual notarial acts per year could be eliminated by adopting best practices from Estonia, Denmark and the United Kingdom with a saving in reduced notarial costs of €1.45bn.
