Request NIE
If you intend to establish yourself in Spain or carry out any economic activity here legally, you will probably need to apply for a NIE.
The NIE is the Foreigner Identity Number, a reference made up of a letter (X, Y or Z), seven digits and an alphabetical verification character (that is, another letter). It is a personal, unique and exclusive number, it shows that you reside in Spain and is associated with both taxation (payment of taxes) and social security (medical assistance and contributions).
The NIE serves several things. In fact, it is necessary for almost any procedure or activity of daily life. Basically to show that you have permission to live indefinitely in Spain. In a practical sense, to prove your residence, and therefore to work, buy property or vehicles, start businesses, pay taxes, make contributions, receive public health care, register on the municipal registry…
In summary … applying for a NIE is the first step to prove your residence in Barcelona and once you obtain it, you will be able to carry out the following procedures.

Empadronamiento
You will need the registration to be able to access public services such as health, or education, and to be able to obtain the TIE or CUE.
This means registering in the Municipal Register, that is, the administrative register where the residents of a municipality are listed, serving as proof of residence in the municipality and of the habitual residence in it.
TIE
A TIE, which is the Foreigners Identification Card, you need it to prove your legal residence in Spain and it contains the assigned NIE. This Foreigner Identity Number will be assigned to you once your visa or residence permit has been approved.
CUE
You will need the CUE or EU Citizen Registration Certificate to prove legal residence in Spain and which will include the NIE. This Foreigner Identity Number will be assigned to you once the CUE has been approved.
It should only be requested by citizens of the European Union.
Digital certificate
It will be necessary to verify your real identity online when carrying out telematic procedures with the Public Administration. This certificate is issued by the National Currency and Stamp Factory (FNMT). You install it on your computer or mobile phone, and that’s it! You save on previous appointments, lines and waiting …
Social Security Number
If you are going to do an internship, work, make contributions and even to obtain the health card, which will give you access to public health in Spain, you must have it.
Understanding that you already have the TIE or CUE, the next step would be to obtain the assignment of the Social Security number. This identifies the citizen in their relationships with Social Security, which provides residents with medical assistance and social benefits in certain cases expressly indicated by law (eg: unemployment, old age, sick leave, etc.).
Individual Health Card
The individual health card (TSI) is the document that
identifies and allows access to the centers and services of the
assigned Madrid public health system.

- The payment of the fees may be by credit card or bank transfer, which will be made within a maximum period of 5 calendar days after you accept our proposal. At that time we will start with the procedures.
- Due to the high demand for appointments, neither the dates nor the places of attention, it depends on us but on the availability of the competent Administration. For this same reason, it is not possible to make changes to them once they have been confirmed. If for reasons of force majeure, you cannot attend the first requested appointment, you will have to pay an additional fee of € 30 + VAT for the date change.
